Bush Reserves

We are compiling a list of all the Bush Reserves in the Roleystone Area. Some of these Reserves are managed by the Armadale City Council and some are managed by the Department of Conservation and Environment. Although not widely know, these Reserves are for the public. Roleybushcare will be adding to the information over time.

We hope to educate our community about the whereabouts of these beautiful bushland reserves. This will enable all of us to enjoy walking through these areas to observe our local wildflowers and wildlife. Many of the Reserves are maintained by resident volunteers in the area. They are also treated for Dieback and replanted by the Roleybushcare Group. Reserve burn-offs are carried out by the Roleystone Volunteer Fire Brigade. Roleybushcare is working with the Armadale City Council to place signage at the Reserves to help with identification. Due to annual budget restrictions, only a few signs can be installed each year.

The City of Armadale also have 'Reserve Custodians', who are people from the community who take on a neighbourhood watch role for the reserve. To become a Reserve Custodian you can contact the City on 9399 0111. Armadale City Council keeps the names of the Reserve Custodians anonymous so we don't know who they all are. However, if you have become a custodian and would like coordinate with Roleybushcare, please send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and we can put you down as a contact.

Roleybushcare has a Reserve Historian who collects information such as dieback treatment, plant species and burn off dates on the reserve. If you have some information on a reserve, please mail to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Maps

Roleystone has many Reserves. Most of the smaller Reserves are in the urban zone but there are some larger Reserves surrounding the urban centre of Roleystone.

The map below contains a history of dieback treatment. Find the reserve name in the scrollable menu (reserve names are red). Click the "small arrow" at the end of the reserve name to zoom the map to that area. Click the red pin on the map, or the shaded area of larger reserves to get treatment dates.

Below is a key map of Roleystone, mainly of the urban zone.

The smaller Reserves are coloured light bright green and the larger Reserves are coloured in mid green.

Click on the large map in the area you are interested in. This will give an enlargement which will give you the names of the Reserves.
