Water releases for the Canning

INFORMATION ON THE START OF THIS SUMMERS ENVIRONMENTAL WATER RELEASES FOR THE CANNING

The following Canning release points were turned on last Friday in response to the warm weather and declining stream flow:

• Araluen
• Bernard Road
• Manning Avenue
• Gosnells Bridge

The remaining two release points, Stocker Road (formerly Hill 60) and Orlando Street will be turned on soon.

We will continue to monitor stream flow at Seaforth gauging station and at each of our management points on a weekly basis. Releases will be incrementally turned up as needed. They will be turned up to their maximum volumes on 20 December unless done so earlier. From 1 December we will start monitoring temperature forecasts and turn releases up if hot weather is forecast.

Award of $500 from the CommBank Community Donation Program

Roleybushcare was delighted to receive an award of $500 from the CommBank Community Donation Program. The money will go towards furthering Roleybushcare's mission to protect and preserve our local bush reserves.

Catherine Shaefer from the Armadale branch of the Commonwealth Bank joined us at our regular field day on Sunday to present the cheque in person, which was a thoughtful gesture. Her support and presence on the day exemplifies CommBank's commitment to community engagement and its desire to make a positive impact on local initiatives like ours.

Roleybushcare Funding for 2023/24 is secure

Our request for funding to continue our work in 2023/24 protecting the local bush reserves against dieback has been approved by the Bushcare and Environmental Working Group.

Many thanks to the City of Armadale for continuing to support our work. Together we continue to make a difference to the health of our wonderful bush reserves..

Committee re-elected for 2023-2024

Updates to the Roleybushcare Flora Database

Have you checked out our Roleybushcare Flora Database recently? It is worthwhile having another look because Lee and John have improved the system by adding more search areas.

You can now process a search on botanical family, genus, species, common name, flower colour (for multi-coloured flowers, only one of the
colours need to be added), month of flowering, category of plant (e.g. climber, grass, small shrub, orchid etc), dieback resistance, reserve name and whether it is native to Roleystone/Karragullen or native to area within 5 km of Roleystone/Karragullen.

Have a try, you won't regret it.

Our funding is secure for 2022/2023

Our request for funding for our Group was approved by the Bushcare and Environmental Working Group. The Bushcare Environmental Working
Group (BEWG) is a collective of representatives from the local community who are actively engaged in the protection and rehabilitation of the environment.
BEWG includes representatives from each of the Bushcare volunteer groups that are active within the City’s bushland reserves. Please have a look at the City of Armadale's webpage about environment work click here.
