Great Cocky Count workshop in Armadale

Armadale is hosting a workshop on 8 March 2018 as part of the preparation of the Great Cocky Count in April.

The Great Cocky Count (GCC) is an annual citizen science survey for our three threatened black‐ cockatoos in the southwest of Western Australia. The next annual count will take place on Sunday, 8 April 2018 when hundreds of volunteers go to their appointed survey sites to tally black cockatoos as they come into roost at sunset. To learn more go to the following Birdlife WA web page at http://birdlife.org.au/projects/southwest-black-cockatoo-recovery/great-cocky-count-swbc.

If you have never participated in the annual count then this year is your chance to do so. The City of Armadale is hosting a GCC workshop at 7 Orchard Avenue, Armadale between 6-7.30 pm on Thursday, 8 March 2018. At the workshop you will learn about black-cockatoo ecology, biology, behaviour and threats, plus instructions on how to do the count on April 8.
