We farewelled a good friend of Roleybushcare and were back at Sylvania Park reserve for our first field day of 2018.

Diane Horgan and Bob Fitzpatrick recently attended a farewell gathering for Shane Hunter who left his job as Community Landcare Officer at the Armadale Gosnells Landcare Group. Shane has provided strong support to Roleybushcare over his time at the group and we wish him and his family all the best on their planned travels around Australia.
Our first field day for 2018 took place in the Sylvania Park reserve, Roleystone. The reserve is a beautiful ten hectares of jarrah-marri forest, donated to the council by the King family. Visit our website if you would like to read more about Sylvania or Roleystone’s other reserves.
With a good turnout of 23 volunteers we treated jarrah and banksia trees against jarrah dieback. The trees absorbed the phosphite solution quickly and we were able to inject a substantial section of the reserve. Four volunteers provided an enticing morning tea for all those who had been working hard to fill syringes or inject trees.
