The concept of a flora database for the Roleystone reserves was conceived to help Roleystone residents identify the native plants in the local reserves and on their own bush blocks.
Local volunteer John Horgan designed the software for the project and Lee Hassan propagated it with the information. It will be an ongoing project.
The database includes plants found in Roleystone reserves managed by the City of Armadale plus some surrounding areas managed by the Department of Parks and Wildlife. It can be searched on botanical family, genus, species, common name, flower colour (for multi-coloured flowers, only one of the
colours need to be added), month of flowering, category of plant (e.g. climber, grass, small shrub, orchid etc), dieback resistance, and reserve name.
More plants will be added over time as they are found and identified but if anyone finds a plant in one of the Roleystone reserves that is not included in the database, please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with details, preferably whilst the plant is still in flower. Please also contact This email address is being protected from spambots. Note that the information and photographs in the database are copyright but the information may be used if the source is cited and the photographs may be reproduced if the photographer is acknowledged.
